The movie centres on Jamie and Maya, a young pregnant couple. As Jamie’s great-aunt passes away and gives them her property, they move from their apartment in London to a huge house in rural Ireland. While attempting to settle into their new family home, the couple learns about the local folklore surrounding the redcaps, nasty, goblin-like creatures who are purported to live in the forest that borders their present back garden. These mythical creatures are a threat, but Jamie and Maya also need to be wary of other threats. Because they are an English couple living in Ireland, they don’t exactly get the best welcome from all of their new neighbours, least of all from the Whelans, a local family with a famously terrible reputation.
